BUCKLEY BEAL LAUNCHES MEDIATION PRACTICE

Partner and Veteran Litigator Nicholas Smith Will Lead the Firm’s New Mediation Practice Area

ATLANTA (April 25, 2017) — Buckley Beal, one of Atlanta’s leading employment and business litigation law firms, announced today the start of its new Mediation practice. The Mediation practice will be led by Partner Nicholas P. Smith. Nick Smith has a diverse 15-year track record of experience including litigating business, employment, insurance, and personal injury matters, as well as business, operations and financial management experience.

“I’m passionate about problem solving,” said Smith. “With litigation, you will eventually get a result in a case, but your client’s problem might not be solved. Mediation is all about solving problems, finding the best path forward and coming to a solution that is agreeable to all the parties.”

Nick Smith is a registered neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. In litigation, he helps individuals and business owners navigate disputes by gathering facts, identifying issues and claims and developing strategies for cost effective resolutions through negotiation or as part of litigation. Smith has a unique skillset that works well in mediation where he combines strategy, analysis and communication to find the best solution for the parties.

Nick has experience representing a wide variety of clients, from individuals and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants handling issues spanning from business disputes, including minority owner oppression and squeeze-out, to employment matters to insurance coverage issues for insurers and insureds, to personal injury, including products liability and premises liability. One common thread in Nick’s practice is his attention to detail and rigorous analysis of the facts. Nick acquired these skills while earning his undergraduate degree in mathematics. Early in his career, he served as a Staff Attorney to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit where he gained invaluable experience in analysis and communication. He has worked for both Fortune 500 companies and small businesses and understands the pressures that businesses face and the need for common sense solutions.

Buckley Beal’s mediators are impartial third parties who are committed to helping those involved in disputes come to agreements that are beneficial for both sides, by identifying the avenues toward resolution.
